ANNUAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDS OF TRURO CATHEDRAL
The Annual General Meeting for the Friends is always held at the Cathedral on a Saturday nearest to the anniversary of the laying
of the Cathedral’s foundation stone on 20th May 1880. A lunch is available, particularly useful for those who have travelled a
distance to attend, and affords a good opportunity for Friends to socialise. There is usually a Holy Communion service or Choral evensong;
sometimes both services are included in the programme. The business part of the meeting is followed by a talk on a particular aspect of the
Cathedral. In recent years the speakers have included the Cathedral architect and the Artist in Residence, whilst there have also been
opportunities for guided tours of the Cathedral on general and specific topics.
The Autumn Meeting usually takes place in early November. In recent years the Dean has given the Friends an update on the
Cathedral’s progress and plans as part of a programme with other speakers or presentations. This meeting usually concludes early enough for
Friends to make a safe homeward journey before it gets too dark.
